Skadi ReviewSuitably named after the Viking goddess of skiing and hunting, Skadi is the domain of chef/owner Ian Alger?en, a former chef at Nevados. It's the perfect place for an après-ski cocktail at the 14-seat bar, a snack from the substantial selection of appetizers and desserts, or a full dinner. Skadi's big-city, postmodern aura is a welcome change after all that local alpine simplicity. Main courses include roasted maple leaf duck with Arctic lingonberries, or braised lamb shanks with rosemary-garlic mashed potatoes and garlic comfit. Finish with lemon panna cotta with fresh berries or frozen caramelized macadamia nut and vanilla bean parfait topped with chocolate sauce. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
