Don't come here expecting gastronomy, or even behavior that's particularly reverential or polite. It's one of the best examples of the artfully trashy, satirical hangouts, where drinks and cocktails are just as important (perhaps more so) than the platters of food that its clientele might eventually get around to ordering when they can't stave off their hunger pangs any longer. Best of all, the food is flavorful and cheap -- a boon for 20-somethings looking for sociological insights and perhaps love and romance in Manchester. The decorative theme here is based on what the owners refer to as "Trash TV." Menu items include, among others, sandwiches, quesadillas, spaghetti Bolognese, Thai-style curries with sticky rice, "cheeky chicken pie," sirloin steaks, lasagna, and burgers. Apple crumble or bread-and-butter pudding are uncharacteristically (for here) traditional desserts.
