This place is a delight -- and the innkeepers Hans Kleimer and Iakovos are a big part of what makes this place so special. Just off Ayii Taxiarches Square, the Londas Guesthouse has three doubles and a triple in a restored 18th-century tower that once was the home of the War of Independence hero Petrobey Mavromichaelis. Each unit has an en suite bathroom, done with wonderful attention to detail. Throughout, there are paintings done by the innkeepers. There are views over the town from the rooms and their terraces. There's no air-conditioning (the winds here are so fierce that it is almost never needed) and, to ensure tranquillity, no TVs. The innkeepers are amazingly helpful, serve wonderful homemade preserves at breakfast, and have great suggestions on how best to enjoy the Mani. One of their suggestions alerted me to a great new taverna in town: the Katoi .
