The surrounding forest, Slavkovský les (Slavkov Forest), has about 70km (43 miles) of marked footpaths and trails through the gentle hills that abound in the area. If you're a die-hard golfer or just looking for a little exercise, the Royal Golf Club of Mariánské Lázne (tel. 354-624-300; www.golfml.cz), a 6,135-yard, par-72 championship course, lies on the edge of town. The club takes pay-as-you-play golfers, with a fully equipped pro shop that rents clubs. Greens fees are 1,500Kc to 1,700Kc and club rental is 500Kc. Reservations are recommended on weekends.
