Planning a TripGetting There Express des Iles, Gare Maritime, Bergevin, Pointe-à-Pitre (tel. 590/91-11-05), operates boat service to the island with three daily round-trips between Point-à-Pitre and Grand-Bourg. The round-trip costs 35€. Monday to Saturday, ferryboats depart from Pointe-à-Pitre for Grand-Bourg on Marie Galante, at 8:15am, 12:30pm, and 5:15pm, with Sunday departures occurring at 8:15am, 5pm, and 7pm. Monday to Saturday, ferryboats to Pointe-à-Pitre depart from Marie-Galante at 6am, 9am, and 4pm, and on Sunday, ferryboats leave from Marie-Galante at 6am, 4pm, and 6pm. Getting Around A limited number of taxis are available at the airport, but be sure to negotiate the price before you drive off. Should you wish to rent a car, go to Hertz in Grand-Bourg (tel. 800/654-3001 in the U.S., or 590/97-59-80; www.hertz.com), where rentals range from 30€ to 60€ per day.
