Frommer's Review
Brothers Pascal and Arnaud Foltran have taken a piece of old Morocco and updated it for new Marrakech. This former mechanic's garage now houses a light and airy, white-on-white retro bistro/cafe. The air-conditioned ground-floor cafe is minimalist-European in style, with Finnish-designed furniture, Murano-glass lighting, shiny chrome accents, wood floors, and high ceilings. The white walls are usually adorned with work from local and international contemporary painters and photographers. You'll find both Moroccans and Westerners, though not so many tourists, here at any time of the day, but it is especially popular around lunchtime when the young and stylish staff have to concentrate on serving rather than looking beautiful. The menu is very reasonably priced and offers breakfast up to 11am -- a personal favorite is the Equilibre of tea/coffee, orange juice, white cheese, and fresh fruit salad, but you can also have good ol' eggs on toast if you wish. This is followed by a selection of light meals, including salads, sandwiches, or toasted paninis, up to 7pm. Lunch and dinner are from an a la carte menu of Moroccan and Mediterranean classics, along with some French-influenced menus du jour. Available throughout the day and night are a range of fresh juices, milkshakes, teas, coffees, and cakes. The upstairs roof terrace is shaded by woven-grass umbrellas, and although it lacks a view, it's a pleasant spot for an early evening drink during the warmer months.
