Hotel al Kabir

This modern, airy hotel is one of a group of similar standard hotels in this area of Guéliz. Mainly used by tour groups and reservation agencies, the Hotel al Kabir's rooms, accessible from three elevators, are all clean, modern, and well appointed, if a tad sterile, and the bathrooms are a reasonable size. The five suites are slightly larger than the rooms -- the extra space filled with a small lounge -- and aren't a particularly good value in comparison. The L-shape building curls around a very pleasant, clean, and underused pool that is relatively private though only a shuffle away from the bar. You can bypass the hotel's restaurant for the excellent dining options nearby. Note: The hotel was under renovation during research for this edition, with completion due in early 2010. Request a room on one of the higher floors, facing away from boulevard Mohammed Zerktouni.
