Frommer's Review
Paul and Lindsay Kentish's discreet boutique villa is a perfect retreat from the dust and hustle. Opened in 2003, Dar Zemora sits amongst 1.2 hectares (3 acres) of palms, roses, citrus trees, jasmine, and bougainvillea, and consists of a main five-bedroom house, a separate pavilion, and a 25m-long (82-ft.) heated outdoor pool. The bedrooms (two suites and three rooms) are finished in smooth earth-color tadelakt walls, hand-painted ceilings, bejmat flooring covered with large rugs, and traditional and modern furnishings. The two suites also come with a fireplace, four-poster bed, and private terrace. The pavilion -- a mini-house with two bedrooms, two outside terraces, and a small kitchenette -- is perfect for families, although they're not keen on accommodating tots due to the unsupervised pool.
What makes Dar Zemora special, I feel, are the reception areas. Two large, indoor salons, where aperitifs are taken each night, have comfortable sofas, big armchairs, plenty of coffee-table books, and smooth background music. Both lead outside to the open-side Fan Room, with tall white-linen drapes, colorful floor cushions, and Moroccan lanterns. There's also a cozy library with leather armchairs, a fireplace, and free Internet and Wi-Fi. A separate hammam and massage room, available to guests only, are located within the gardens. Concierge Youssef and Jamal are always on hand should you need something, and in-house cooks Jamila and Rachida work from a home-style kitchen serving up decadent breakfasts and gourmet six-course international or Moroccan dinners. For those looking to book an entire riad for a special occasion, Dar Zemora is the perfect place.
