Haiku Cannery Inn ReviewIf you are looking for an off-the-beaten-path vacation, I recommend staying here. This historic plantation manager's home has been converted into a pastoral country inn. Located on 3 acres, filled with tropical fruit trees, bamboo, and ginger, the inn is 5 minutes from a wonderful restaurant (Colleen's at the Cannery). The spacious guest rooms feature Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses, and several rooms have full size pull-out couches. Rates for the rooms in the inn include a continental breakfast (laid out in the old-fashioned pantry, allowing you to sleep in as long as you want). In addition the property has a separate stand-alone two-bedroom cottage with mango hardwood floors, lychee wood cabinets, and a fully equipped kitchen. The cottage is perfect for families or for adventure travelers who can store their equipment (windsurfing boards, scuba gear, and so forth) in the two-car garage. Note: Rates for cottages do NOT include continental breakfast. Best of all, the inn keeper, Benni Denbeau, is a long-time Maui resident who is great at suggesting where to eat, what to do, and where to get the best deals. Facilities: Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Please be sure to confirm all rates and details directly with the companies in question before planning your trip.

| 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
