This venerable resort is that rare Gulf Island lodging: a place where kids and pets are welcome. On the warm eastern side of Mayne Island -- close to beaches, kayaking, and hiking -- the comfortable, unfussy cabins are a great value and come with full kitchen, deck, and barbecue; some have a fireplace. You have a choice of studio, one-, and two-bedroom cabins; one-bedroom units have ramps for wheelchair access. Blue Vista is also a great location for an active holiday, with sea kayak rentals and tours into the new Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, plus bike rentals.
