Frommer's Review
Slightly less formal and expensive than the Petit St. Vincent Resort on Petit St. Vincent , to which it's frequently compared, Saltwhistle Bay Club caters to escapists with money. You can spend your days lolling in one of the hammocks strung among the trees in the 8-hectare (20-acre) tropical garden, perhaps taking a swim off the expanse of white-sand beaches that curve along both the leeward and windward sides of the island, or the staff will take you to a little uninhabited island nearby for a Robinson Crusoe-style picnic.
Set back from the beach, the accommodations were built by local craftspeople, using local stone and tropical woods like purpleheart and greenheart. All units have ceiling fans. Inside, the spacious cottages have an almost medieval feel, with thick stone walls and dark wood furnishings. Bathrooms are large, with cylindrical stone showers.
The dining room is made up of circular stone booths topped by thatch canopies, where you can enjoy seafood fresh from the waters around Mayreau: lobster, curried conch, and grouper. Since there are no room phones, room service has to be requested at the reception desk.
