Just 5km (3 miles) from the Slovenian border, this restaurant is located in an elegant, renovated 18th-century mansion. Here you can sample wines from local producers and eat impeccably prepared local specialties. Try cigansko pecenje, spicy roast pork with roasted potatoes; or sarma with game, cranberries, and potato purée. Don't miss Medimurska gebanica for dessert. That's a cake made of layers of apples, walnuts, cheese, and poppy seeds. Terbotz is loaded with local dishes like these. Besides the food and the wine-tasting room, Terbotz has dining on its deck overlooking the restaurant's vineyards. On a clear day you can see Slovenia, Hungary, and Austria. Terbotz is in the process of adding pansion-style rooms.
