If you've come to Mendoza to explore food and wine, don't miss the place where locals shop for it. El Mercado Central, the central market, has been in the same location on busy Las Heras street for 120 years and has plenty of atmosphere and lively characters. Stalls offer up fresh produce, and the butchers and fishmongers are the real deal. It's a great place for people-watching. You can also grab quick, cheap snacks such as empanadas, pizzas and sandwiches, and the ingredients for a great picnic.
