This baroque-style hotel offers comfortable, modern accommodations in a fascinating historic building -- a former home for Augustinian friars. The 18th-century stone structure features rooms on two floors surrounding a central colonial courtyard with a graceful fountain and Mexican restaurant. It's on La Alameda park, a short distance from the Palace of Fine Arts and the Franz Mayer Museum. Rooms, which were remodeled in 2005, vary in size and features, but all contain hand-woven bedspreads, carpeting, and a desk. The modern bathrooms have three-prong plugs and tile accents. Security boxes are available in the reception area.
