Casa Vieja Review

Pure Mexican style and service are the hallmarks of this luxury boutique hotel, a true gem known more to locals than tourists. Once a private residence, Casa Vieja is decorated with bold colors, unique handicrafts, exquisite antiques, and original furnishings. Each individually decorated suite is named after a Mexican artist, such as Frida Kahlo or Diego Rivera, and includes a living and kitchen area, 36-inch TV, spacious bedroom, and large bathroom with Jacuzzi tub. Notwithstanding the lovely decor, the real attraction is the highly personalized, gracious service. Guests receive a welcome drink and fruit basket upon arrival. An intimate rooftop restaurant and lounge serves made-to-order breakfast, lunch, and dinner (not included in the room rate). The only drawback is that, in some rooms, you may overhear conversations in the halls and common areas.

Facilities:
Bar and cafe w/light meal service; concierge; room service

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
