Randazzo's Little Italy ReviewThis old-school, Godfather-influenced, Goodfellas-inspired, Sopranos-style Italian restaurant is a guaranteed knockout and not just because the owner is a former professional boxer, either. Come hungry and leave with your pants unbuttoned as this bustling, fun, and phenomenally garlicky restaurant has a way of making Little Italy seem mammoth thanks to huge portions of traditional favorites -- sausage and peppers, meatballs and spaghetti, and rigatoni with vodka sauce which one critic said was so good it could "bring any homesick Italian-American to tears." House specialty is spaghetti with Sunday gravy -- al dente strands of pasta studded with meatballs the size of wrecking balls (appropriately enough they will wreck your appetite) and large chunks of sweet and hot sausage. Although there are many distractions here, from the cacophonous crowd and gregarious former-boxer owner to the TVs showing the aforementioned Italian-themed classics, the focus here is fully on the plate -- which if you finish, will earn you, too, major heavyweight status. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
