Marenas Resort ReviewThis all-suite beachfront resort, formerly a Le Meridien, brings a nice touch of European-style glitz and glamour to the area and, sorry Donald, it trumps the nearby Trump resort in many ways. All rooms -- there are 130 one-bedroom suites and 80 two-bedroom suites -- feature king-size beds with Egyptian cotton linens, and the latest in technology, not to mention full-size Italian kitchens, washer/dryers, and spa-quality bathrooms. Service throughout the hotel is impeccable. The hotel's 6,000-square-foot spa is also a hot spot for those seeking pampering, but I prefer the pool area, where an infinity-edged beachfront pool stands out like a supermodel in a crowd of circus clowns. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
