This 12-story Art Deco masterpiece reminiscent of a gleaming ocean liner, with porthole windows received a massive makeover by trend-setting designer Kelly Wearstler and is now a condo/hotel. Rooms have been newly washed in warm earth tones -- a stark yet welcome contrast from its former Delano-esque all white. Also, all rooms are at least twice the size of a typical South Beach hotel room and have a breathtaking panoramic view of the ocean. The penthouses on the ninth and tenth floors are situated at the highest point on Ocean Drive, allowing for a priceless panoramic view of the ocean, the skyline, and the beach. Recent renovations to the one lackluster pool, including poolside cabanas and landscaping, have helped to bring it up to posh par. The hotel's restaurant, La Marea, is located in the lobby, and is good, but very pricey. A full selection of spa services is available in rooms and poolside.
