Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne Review

The Ritz-Carlton takes Key Biscayne to the height of luxury with 44 acres of tropical gardens, a 20,000-square-foot destination spa, and a world-class tennis center under the direction of tennis pro Cliff Drysdale. Decorated in British colonial style, the Ritz-Carlton is straight out of Bermuda, with its impressive flower-laden landscaping. The Ritz Kids programs provide children ages 5 to 12 with fantastic activities, including quality time with the resort's affectionate blue and gold macaw mascot, and the 1,200-foot beachfront, named among the Top 10 Beaches in the U.S. by Dr. Stephen "Beach" Leatherman, offers everything from pure relaxation to fishing, boating, or windsurfing. Spacious and luxuriously appointed rooms feature new decor that embodies the resort's island-destination feel and large balconies that overlook the ocean or lush gardens. The oceanview Italian restaurant Cioppino is excellent for formal dining, or, if you prefer casual dining, the oceanfront Cantina Beach serves great authentic Mexican food and even has a "tequlier" -- a sommelier for tequila. The St. Tropez-inspired Dune Oceanfront Burger Lounge is ideal for lazy afternoons on the sand with one of their gourmet burgers and a glass of champagne, while the resort's nighttime spot RUMBAR hearkens back to Old Havana with an impressive rum selection and light Cuban-inspired fare. The hotel's remote location -- just a 10-minute drive from the hustle and bustle -- makes it a favorite for those (John Travolta, among others) who want to avoid the hubbub.

Facilities:
4 restaurants; 3 bars; children's programs; concierge; fitness center; 2 outdoor heated pools; room service; spa; tennis center with lessons available; watersports equipment/rentals

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
