Although it's a bit off the beaten path, The Palms is a breezy antebellum tropical oasis in which Art Deco meets Gone With the Wind. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the hotel offers Yoga Under the Palms, complimentary Yoga sessions taking place in and around the hotel's garden. Rooms have been spruced up beautifully, bordering on boutiquey, with high-tech amenities, and if you're so inclined, you can take advantage of the hotel's Relax and Rejuvenate spa treatments in the comfort of your own room. In 2005, the rooms were given a "soft and cozy" upgrade with Sealy Posturepedic pillow-top mattresses and 300-thread-count linens. A huge outdoor area is landscaped with palms and hibiscus and has a large freshwater pool as its centerpiece. It faces a popular boardwalk for runners and strollers as well as a large beach where watersports equipment is available. A new spa debuted in 2008.
