The Setai ReviewWith bank-busting room rates, dinner tabs coming in at around $200 per person (although 2009/10 saw the addition of some "recession friendly" prix-fixe menus starting at $55 per person), drinks (try the one with pork-belly- infused Jack Daniels) ranging from $14 to $20 a pop (although 2009 saw the addition of Bottleshock, a promotion in which select bottles of vino are discounted 40%. As for the original markup, well, that's another story), and a celebrity clientele who doesn't have to ask how much, the Zen-like, Asian-inspired Setai is truly for that 1% of society who can afford it. But if you want to splurge, this is where to do it. All of the suites -- some are actually condos participating in the condo-hotel program -- are gorgeous apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows, full kitchens, and Jacuzzi bathtubs bigger than a small swimming pool. There are 85 regular hotel rooms that are an average of 600 square feet, compared to the suites' 1,300 to 3,500 square feet. All are adorned in sleek Asian decor with over-the-top comforts, including Lavazza espresso makers, Laura Tonatto bathroom amenities, and washer/dryers. The garden area with reflecting pools is lovely, but not as cool as the pool area with a bar serving $18 chicken sandwiches to celebrity clientele. There's also The Grill, which features a create-your-own multicourse tapas menu, and The Restaurant, its proper name, which is authentically Asian, with stainless-steel tandoori ovens -- but with these steep prices and small portions you may as well buy a ticket to Asia. Please be sure to confirm all rates and details directly with the companies in question before planning your trip.

| 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
