Frommer's Review

This former Pawn Shop is far from shabby or schlocky but it is, perhaps, the kitschiest spot in Miami in which Sanford and Son meets South Beach. In addition to a full blown, big yellow school bus that doubles as a cocktail lounge, Pawn Shop boasts a full size Airstream Trailer in which the likes of Colin Farrell and Paris Hilton have kicked back on the couch and looked out the window at the ensuing insanity on the dance floor. Not in the mood to be confined into a small space? Then relax in a seat located in the jetliner fuselage -- actual plane seats that are surprisingly more comfy than in cattle class. Pawn Shop throws unusual parties such as the one where they featured an impersonator of Larry Wilcox, "The white guy from CHiPs" and the one when Hilton debuted her album by taking over the DJ booth and screaming "I hate techno, so turn this #$%@ off." Alan T., the door personality -- there's no other word for him -- is one of the club's best attractions. Be sure to tell him we say hello.
