Like sister property the Chelsea over on Washington Avenue, the purple-trimmed Shelley is a refurbished Deco darling (1936) with a middle-of-it-all SoBe location—mixing hints of Deco with some of the now expected accoutrements of today’s boutiques, such as gauzy curtains, liberal use of white, and marble baths. Service is good, but rooms are smallish (admittedly par for the course in these old buildings); there’s no elevator (it’s just 3 stories) and if you care about Wi-Fi, it’s in the lobby only. Finally, another little cool trendy extra: The destination bar/lounge (pouring noon–5am) is not just the usual booze-o-rama but also a hookah bar, with 150 flavors of tobacco.
