London Hotel ReviewUnlike its neighbor the Hotel Giulio Cesare, the London sticks to its old-fashioned ways, and even the prices are hesitant to budge. The big fireplace and cozy green velvet furniture in the lobby say a lot about the friendly comfort level that brings guests back time after time. Just beyond the lobby, there's a bar where beverages are available almost 'round-the-clock; guests can purchase cappuccino or a continental breakfast in the morning. Upstairs the rooms look like they haven't been redecorated in a number of decades, but they're roomy and bright, and the heavy old furnishings lend a charm very much in keeping with the ambience of the hotel. Rooms on the first floor tend to be the largest, and they get smaller as you go up. Guests receive a 10% discount at the trattoria next door, the Opera Prima. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
