20 miles S of Eatonville; 30 miles NE of Macon; 90 miles SE of Atlanta

This town ranks along with Madison and Washington in historic sights. Carved from Native American territories in 1803, Milledgeville was the capital of Georgia until 1868, when the seat was moved to Atlanta. Milledgeville was miraculously spared by General Sherman and today remains a treasure-trove of antebellum architecture.
