The Walker Art Center reopened with great fanfare in early 2005 with a striking new addition that nearly doubled its exhibition space. A fine dining restaurant and cafe, both by Wolfgang Puck, and gift shop are also new. Unchanged is the museum's reputation for edgy, contemporary art: paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, and multimedia installations. Across the street is the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, the largest urban sculpture garden in the country. A variety of 20th-century sculpture shares space with horticultural plantings, including the famous "Spoonbridge and Cherry." Allow 2 hours for both.
