Room rates are generally highest from March through October, and sometimes drop by up to half in winter. Rates may also be higher during special events. Room tax of 12 1/4% is added to all bills. Pets are not accepted unless otherwise noted.
Most visitors are here for the outdoors and don't plan to spend much time in their rooms; as a result, many book into one of the fully adequate chain and franchise motels, most of which are located on Main Street (zip code 84532). Franchises here include the very well maintained La Quinta Inn, 815 S. Main St. (tel. 435/259-8700; www.laquintamoab.com), which is pet friendly and has summer rates of $99 to $129 double, with off-season discounts. Other more than adequate franchises, with rates in the same general area, include Super 8, on the north edge of Moab at 889 N. Main St. (tel. 435/259-8868; www.super8.com), which is the town's largest lodging with almost 150 units; Best Western Canyonlands Inn, 16 S. Main St. (tel. 435/259-2300; www.bestwesternutah.com); Best Western Greenwell Inn, 105 S. Main St. (tel. 435/259-6151; www.bestwesternutah.com); Comfort Suites, 800 S. Main St. (tel. 435/259-5252; www.choicehotels.com); Days Inn, 426 N. Main St. (tel. 435/259-4468; www.daysinn.com); Motel 6, 1089 N. Main St. (tel. 435/259-6686; www.motel6.com); and Sleep Inn, 1051 S. Main St. (tel. 435/259-4655; http://moabsleepinn.com). Alternatives include the cabins at Arch View Resort RV Camp Park, Canyonlands Campground & RV Park, and Moab Valley RV Resort.
Camping -- You can also camp at Canyonlands and Arches national parks, at Dead Horse Point State Park, and at Newspaper Rock, which are discussed elsewhere in this chapter. Pets are permitted in campgrounds unless otherwise noted. Those camping on public lands where there are no showers can find them at the Moab Swim Center, 181 W. 400 North (tel. 435/259-8226), local campgrounds, and bike shops. Cost is about $3 to $5.
