Frommer's Review
This nostalgic Hawaiian motel complex is composed of a series of modified A-frame units nestled under coco palms along a gray-sand beach with a great view of Lanai, but it's not good for swimming. In 2006 the entire hotel underwent a $1-million renovation. The interiors of all the rooms have been upgraded and look clean and new (be sure to ask for one with a ceiling fan). This is a modest budget hotel; the rooms have all the necessities but aren't fancy. Most rooms have a lanai. The mattresses are on the soft side, the sheets thin, and the bath towels rough, but this is the only hotel in Kaunakakai. The kitchenettes, with coffeemaker, toaster, pots, and two-burner stove, can save you money on eating out. The front desk is open only from 7am to 8pm; late check-ins or visitors with problems have to go to security.
Facilities:
Fairly good and reasonably priced restaurant w/bar; outdoor pool; watersports equipment rentals; bike rentals; activities desk; babysitting; coin-op washer/dryers
