Getting There
By Train -- The Florence-Viareggio train, which pauses at Pistoia on the way, stops at Montecatini (19 daily; 50-70 min. from Florence, 10 min. from Pistoia). If you're staying in Montecatini, get off at the second stop in town, Montecatini Succursale. If you're heading to Monsummano Terme, get off at Montecatini Terme-Monsummano or Centrale.
By Car -- Take the A11 from Florence or Pistoia to the Montecatini exit.
By Bus -- Hourly Lazzi (tel. 055-363-041; www.lazzi.it) buses run from Florence (52 min.). From Pistoia, it's best to take the train.
Visitor Information
Montecatini Terme's tourist office is at Viale Verdi 66 (tel. 0572-772-244; fax 0572-70-109; apt@montecatini.turismo.toscana.it; no official site, but the following are all useful: www.termemontecatini.it, www.montecatini-terme.it, and www.montecatini-alto.it). It's open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 12:30pm and 3 to 6pm and Sunday from 9am to noon; closed Sundays from December to Easter. For Monsummano, contact Hotel Grotta Giusti directly.
