Shoppers may want to pick up some foie gras at the Conserverie Artisanale Larroque, 1300 av. de Falguières (tel. 05-63-63-45-40). Or visit Pecou, 10 rue de la République (tel. 05-63-63-06-38), for a supply of montauriol (chocolate-covered cherries with a shot of Armagnac) and boulet de Montauban (chocolate-covered roasted hazelnuts) candies.

A specialty of the town is pigeonniers miniatures -- models of pigeon coops that were built on local farms to attract pigeons for their "fertilizer." The Librairie Deloche, 21 rue de la République (tel. 05-63-63-22-66), carries 30 models of various architectural styles and a selection of books on pigeonniers.

Head for the Cathédrale Notre-Dame, place Roosevelt (tel. 05-63-63-10-23), a classical building constructed in 1692 and framed by two square towers. In the north transept is the monumental painting the church commissioned from Ingres, Vow of Louis XIII. It's open Monday to Saturday 9am to noon and 2 to 7pm. Masses are conducted Sunday from 10am to noon.
