Frommer's Review
This three-story, vine-covered, Tudor-style country inn is one the nation's top B&Bs and one of my favorites. It's away from the surf but a perfect choice for romantics, with rose gardens aplenty, a bubbling brook, and oak-shaded brick-and-flagstone walkways. All guest rooms have private baths, plush featherbeds, and down duvets, and many have wood-burning fireplaces; two open onto private patios. All guest rooms are unique and wonderful, but my two favorites are the cozy Library with its book-lined walls and stone fireplace, and the Stoneleigh for its private entrance, whirlpool for two, and fireplace facing the huge bed. The private cottage is English country, with a double Jacuzzi, magnificent king-size bed, wood-burning fireplace, sitting area, and private patio. Special touches include fresh fruit, flowers, and candies, sachets by the pillow, and books and magazines.
Breakfasts are stellar -- treats may include orange blossom French toast, or Belgian waffles, served in your room by the fire or in your bed or in the dining room. The innkeeper also provides blankets and towels for the beach. From 4:30 to 6pm, guests can retire to the living room for fireside wine and hors d'oeuvres. If you want to impress your sweetie, reserve a firelight Swedish massage for two at the inn's SpaRetreat Salon.
