Main Street Grill & Bar ReviewThis modern, comfortable restaurant serves as classroom and ongoing exam for students of the New England Culinary Institute, just down the block. It's not unusual to see knots of students, toques at a rakish angle, walking between the restaurant and class. You can eat in the first-level dining room, watching street life through the broad windows, or hang out in the homey bar downstairs. Dishes change every 3 months, but lunch may include a poached pear and Stilton salad to start, followed by a hangar steak salad, grilled salmon, crab cakes, pulled pork tacos, or fish and chips. Dinner may feature a grilled leg of lamb, steaks, pasta with mussels, a tofu stir fry (vegetarian dishes are always on the menu), or a fancy version of meat loaf. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
