Frommer's Review
The flowering of boutique hotels has given multiple jolts of glamour to Old Montréal, joining daring design with the preservation of historic buildings. With it has come the creation of hotel restaurants that destroy the image of threadbare and bland dining rooms, including this snazzy space in the top-notch Hôtel Nelligan. With its ancient stone-and-brick walls, high ceilings, and horseshoe bar, it's welcoming and clubby. The ambience contributes to the active bar scene toward week's end, especially when the weather is warm enough to open the doors at the front. Service is adroit and thankfully short on pretension, and the pace of a meal is sedate. Lunch can be a grilled beef with Pont-Neuf potatoes or seafood risotto, while dinner choices include lamb osso buco, duck breast with juniper berry demi-glace, and a 20-ounce Angus rib steak.
