Frommer's Review

Even the smallest rooms in this fashionable urban inn are gracefully presented -- they're sizeable, with comfortable, firm beds. About half of them feature whirlpool tubs with separate showers. Guests can spend time on the rooftop terrace, which overlooks the Basilique Notre-Dame; one suite, on the top floor, offers superb views of the basilica's cloistered gardens. Bonaparte restaurant on the ground floor -- romantic and faded in a Left Bank of Paris sort of way -- has long been one of Vieux-Montréal's favorites. Generous breakfasts, included in the cost of the room, are served here, and sitting at one of the elegant window tables with a newspaper, croissant, coffee, and an omelet feels like an especially civilized way to start the day.

Facilities:
Restaurant; access to nearby health club; concierge; laptop w/Wi-Fi for borrowing (free); room service; babysitting; bike storage in basement

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
