Frommer's Review
The Godin projects the sort of voluptuous minimalism that characterizes forward-thinking design in Montréal. The owners previously launched four hot resto-lounges including Buonanotte and Le Globe, both of which are a couple of blocks away. The high design works to both an advantage and a disadvantage: Decorated in a sea of gun-metal gray and chocolate brown colors and featuring low-flung beds with oversize pillows and duvets, rooms are cozy for hunkering in but maddeningly dark for anything else. Even with all the lights on, we're talking mood lighting at best. Any hopes to use the built-in wall-length desk for actual work are futile. On the other hand, the hotel's location directly at the base of the trendy boulevard St-Laurent and its fashionista restaurant and club action gives strong incentive to put down any books and pack away the computer, and indulge in eating, drinking, and then settling in for the night. A lounge adjacent to the reception serves free coffee and tea round-the-clock.
