Near the foot of Place Jacques Cartier, the main plaza in Vieux-Montréal, a passage leads into a tree-shaded garden court in back of a stone building dating from 1812. A pleasant hour or two can be spent listening to jazz every noontime and evening, and afternoons from Thursday to Sunday. Food takes second place, but the kitchen does well with its pizzas and crepes, the latter with both sweet and savory fillings (including lobster). There's a covered people-watching porch in front, and dining rooms and a bar inside. When the weather's nice, it's open until 2am. Closed November through mid-April.
