Frommer's Review
High above the city on the Santa María Ridge, this hotel offers beauty and tranquility. Rooms are in a small complex of buildings on a hillside, separated by gardens and connected by footpaths. The buildings are at different levels; this, as well as the placement of the entrances, allows for privacy. Villa Montaña, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, has no rough edges. Rooms are large, impressively furnished, and have working fireplaces. Most come with two doubles or a king-size bed. Bathrooms are large, with tub/shower combinations and lots of counter space. Most of the junior suites have a separate living area and a small terrace with table and chairs. Master suites have a lot of architectural details. The restaurant does a great job with local dishes, and having a drink on the terrace overlooking the city is one of the delights of staying here. Service is attentive.
Facilities: Restaurant; terrace bar; heated outdoor pool; golf at local country club; lighted tennis court; fitness room; spa; concierge; tour desk; business center; executive business services; room service; in-room massage; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
