Strip malls and oysters: not the most appealing combination. But this modest looking spot (yes, it's in a strip mall) serves up mighty fine bivalves, which go down extra smooth when coupled with bar specials. (The key is to come during happy hour, 5 to 7pm, weekdays, when beer and oysters are half off. Not that the regular price for oysters is so onerous—a half-dozen are quite affordable, and the oyster roast, which includes 18 oysters, coleslaw, and hushpuppies, is a perfect way to start things off for groups, or ambitiously hungry couples.) Beyond the food and drinks, this raucous bar is a heckuva lot of fun and very welcoming to visitors, who are encouraged to sign a dollar bill and stick it to the wall (try it, it's fun). As you look around, you'll see photos of local community groups mixed in with the usual maritime stuff (netting and tackle mostly).
