Frommer's Review
A $139-million trickle of the floods of cash washing over southeastern Connecticut and its resurgent Indian Nation was diverted to create this museum. Opened in 1998 to substantial fanfare, it has justified the hoopla with a carefully conceived mix of film, murals, models, dioramas, and re-creations of scenes of Native American life. The Pequot Village exhibit is complete with wigwams and life-size figures shown fishing, hunting, cooking, butchering game, and making baskets and ceramics. An observation tower supplies views of the reservation. Lunch and snacks are served in the restaurant, and there's a shop with books, jewelry, and crafts. A shuttle bus carries visitors between the museum and the casinos.
