The Spa at Norwich Inn Review

Set on 42 acres of beautiful grounds, this complex has 49 guest rooms in a main building that are augmented by outlying "villas," which each have a kitchen, a sitting area with fireplace, a separate bedroom, and a private deck. The dining room, Kensington's, enjoys a versatile kitchen staff capable of producing meals either conventional or health-minded. The fitness center offers classes in yoga, belly dancing, and Pilates, and the full-service spa is a big-volume operation, with 36 treatment rooms. At that size, some guests have found an impersonal tenor to the experience. While services run from standard-luxurious to silly (Chocolate Chip Aromatherapy Body Wrap, anyone?), the readers of Connecticut Magazine have named it the best day spa in the state for 10 years in a row. The property is owned by the Mashantucket Pequots, whose Foxwoods is visible from the front door.

Facilities:
Restaurant (eclectic); bar; indoor and outdoor pools; adjacent golf course; fitness center (w/classes) and spa; limited room service

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
