Frommer's Review
Once known as The Regent of Fiji and more recently as the Sheraton Royal Denarau Resort, this venerable property first opened its doors in 1972. Starwood Hotels, which now owns it as well as the nearby Sheraton Fiji, recently upgraded it to luxury status. Fortunately, it still maintains more Fijian charm than any other large hotel here. Covered by a peaked wooden roof and laden with artifacts, the dark, breezy foyer opens to an irregularly shaped pool and the gray-sand beach. The rooms are in a series of two-story, motel-style blocks grouped in "villages" surrounded by thick, lush tropical gardens and linked by covered walkways to the central building. With lots of varnished wood trim, exposed timbers, and masi cloth accents, the spacious units also ooze tropical charm. Guests here can use the private island shared with the Sheraton Fiji, while guests there can use the fitness center and full-service spa here.
