A Japanese Inn Group member and family-owned for more than 60 years, this is a no-nonsense place. Customers are a mix of travelers (including families), students, and during the week, Japanese businessmen. Tatami rooms are spotless and cozy, with more space and features than most other hotel rooms in this price category, including a closet, but have glazed windows beyond the shoji screens. The men's public bathroom has a sauna, but the female bath doesn't and is smaller (female guests are fewer). The owners' son, who often clerks the front desk and is the third-generation innkeeper, speaks English well and is very helpful.
