Restaurants

There are several upmarket, modern restaurants in 1912, a restaurant and bar district on the corner of Changjiang Lu and Taiping Bei Lu. 1912 has been constructed to create an "Old China" feel: gray stone, traditional roofs, and pedestrian walkways. Everything feels a bit geared for the tourists and most restaurants are expensive or overpriced. Western standbys like KFC and Starbucks are here. For finer dining, head to the hip Taiwan chain Bellagio (beside Starbucks), or the popular Sichuanese chain South Beauty, which should be open by the time you read this. Other lively places to grab a late-night bite include Shizi Qiao, a popular pedestrian restaurant street off Hunan Lu, and the Confucius Temple area, which attracts swarms of people when it is all lit up at night.
