Nashville is spread out, with pockets of interesting neighborhoods, entertainment districts, and shopping areas scattered throughout the metro area, so having a car is important if you want to experience the breadth of all the city has to offer. However, the downtown area is relatively compact, making it feasible to hit several of Music City's high points right off the bat on your first day in town -- and without too much driving.
