In the District--In addition to the clubs mentioned here, you'll find several small bars along lower Broadway, in an area long known as Honky-tonk Row or Honky-tonk Highway. The teeming, 2-block strip between 4th and 5th Avenues is a nostalgic neon hootenanny of country-music sights, sounds, and occasionally some good old-fashioned rabble-rousing.
Jazz & Blues--If you're here in the summer, check to see who's playing at the Tennessee Jazz & Blues Concert Series at Belle Meade Plantation (tel. 615/356-0501).
Gay & Lesbian Dance Clubs And Bars -- Nashville's gay nightlife district lies to the south of Broadway (south of The District); along 4th Avenue South, you'll find no fewer than three gay bars.
I Want My CMT--Want to be on TV? Stop by the Wildhorse Saloon on Second Street downtown, where each Wednesday night from 7:30pm to 9pm (CST) cable TV's interactive CMT: Most Wanted Live is taped. Music news, artist appearances and performances, and video premieres are part of the mix -- a country music version of MTV's NYC-based TRL program. Call ahead to get a confirmation number that will save your spot (tel. 615/831-0338), or arrive two hours early to put your name on a back-up list to become part of the audience. Either way, you can get your kicks for free.
