The Best Websites

To find out more about what's happening in Music City USA, check out the following websites:

www.musiccityusa.com (and/or nashvillecvb.com): The Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau's encyclopedic site is award-winning and crammed with nearly everything you ever wanted to know about Nashville. Info on lodging, restaurants, nightlife, attractions, and group travel is concise and user-friendly. A personalized itinerary feature allows you to glean and compile info based on your preferences, such as family options or African-American history.

www.nashscene.com: The alternative weekly newspaper, Nashville Scene is an incisive, highly entertaining read packed with the latest news and reviews on the city's art galleries, restaurants, politics, and nightlife. Click on the annual "Best of Nashville" issue or laugh out loud at their annual Boner Awards.

www.tennessean.com: The daily newspaper where Al Gore got his start as a reporter, the Tennessean serves up one of the most extensive sites about Nashville and the region. In-depth guides on everything from the NFL's Tennessee Titans to downtown architecture (what's the deal with that Batman-esque skyscraper, anyway?) are fodder for this fun site.

www.tennesseebackroads.org: A visitors' guide, Tennessee Backroads takes an off-the-beaten-path approach to the state's scenic small towns and less-traveled roads, and the non-touristy sites to be found there.

www.tnstateparks.com: Tennessee State Parks features helpful maps and info about camping, lodging, and outdoor recreation.

www.tnvacation.com: The state's official tourist guidebook divides the Volunteer State by geographic region -- Western (Memphis), Middle (Nashville), and the mountainous Eastern region including the Smoky Mountains. This site gives practical info about road rules and other regulations, and a good general overview of what Tennessee has to offer.
