The show that made Nashville famous, the Grand Ole Opry is the country's longest continuously running radio show and airs every weekend from a theater adjacent to the Opryland Hotel. Over the years the Opry has had several homes, including the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville. In late 2003 the 4,400-seat Grand Ole Opry House got its first major refurbishment since 1974, when the program was moved from the Ryman to its current home in the Music Valley. Through it all, the Opry remains a comforting mix of country music and gentle humor that has endured for nearly three-quarters of a century. Over the decades, the program has featured nearly all the greats of country music. Nearly all Grand Ole Opry performances sell out, and though it's often possible to get last-minute tickets, you should try to order tickets as far in advance as possible. The Opry's lineup of performers for Friday and Saturday nights are announced each Wednesday prior to the shows, which are staged at the Opry House in Music Valley from March through October, and at the Ryman Auditorium downtown from November through February.
