Frommer's Review
A half-hour drive from Natal, the Hotel Genipabu's hilltop location offers spectacular views over Genipabu beach and the surrounding nature reserve of dunes and greenery. The 24 regular rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished, with firm king-size beds, as well as hammocks and balconies with lovely views out over the dunes and ocean. A good option for families, the four split-level duplex rooms feature a master suite with king-size bed upstairs, and then a pair of single beds in the downstairs room, which also features a ground-level veranda (the upstairs of the duplex units do not have balconies). The hotel also boasts a large sunlit deck with a nearly Olympic-size pool and an open-air restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. The hotel offers free transport to and from the beach, located only about 700m (2,100 ft.) away. Hotel owners Ana and Patrick speak excellent English (not to mention French, Portuguese, and Japanese) and are happy to provide sightseeing suggestions.
The hotel has recently opened a Japanese-themed spa, offering reiki and shiatsu and ofuro hot, scented baths. Many guests come for 1-week spa and nutrition packages, but the treatments are also available to regular guests. (A 1-hr. ofuro bath for two costs R$70/US$29). Spa info: www.spanaturalis.com.br.
