Canadian Janet Southwick and her New Zealand husband Tim Bayley have been doing a fabulous job of hosting guests at terrific prices long enough to be considered experts. Upstairs rooms in their 119-year-old home have plenty of space and character; the Parkdale has a huge step-down bathroom complete with claw-foot tub and shower, plus its own sunroom. And they've just built a new, ecofriendly cottage in the garden, with two further rooms -- one up and one down -- overlooking the stream and garden. These will be ideal for families or two couples who like to be close to each other. Expect terrific breakfasts. All this just 5 minutes' walk from town.
