Frommer's Review
The least elaborate of the plantation-style inns of Nevis, this hotel is the most evocative of a Gone With the Wind Nevisian life. East of Charlestown and north of Gingerland, at a cool and comfortable elevation of 240m (787 ft.), the Old Manor Hotel has an old-world grace. The forested plot of land on which the hotel sits was granted to the Croney family in 1690 by the king of England. The estate thrived as a working sugar plantation until 1936. Today, the stately ruins of its great house, once described by British historians as "the best example of Georgian domestic architecture in the Caribbean," complement the hotel's outbuildings. The hotel has been renovated and now has a far more cheerful, tropical appearance. Accommodations contain wide-plank floors of tropical hardwoods, reproduction furniture, and high ceilings. Bathrooms come neat and tidy; some are shower only.
The Old Manor runs a complimentary shuttle to Pinney's Beach, 15 to 20 minutes away.
